Could the Hare and Hounds be the Most Dog Friendly Pub in Mirfield? You Decide...

Updated: Dec 1, 2018

Admittedly I was a bit surprised, though pleased to discover that the Hare and Hounds public house falls within the Mirfield boundaries. This is particularly good news for Mirfielders however, because as far as pubs go they don’t come much more dog friendly than this one.

A Menu Just For Dogs!

Similar to other pubs in our area , the Hare and Hounds openly welcome dogs, even announcing the fact on their website, but the overriding feature that promotes this pub a league or two is their 'Dog Menu' created especially to make your dog's visit just as enjoyable as yours.

This pub has long had a good reputation as a fine human eatery, but a menu station next to the bar extends this fine service to our four legged friends. And we’re not just talking dog biscuits and a bowl of water (these are provided free) but a menu full of canine culinary delights!

This means that while you’re tucking into your Steak Pie or Sea Bass, your pooch could be enjoying Salmon fillet, Chicken breast or Streaky bacon, all washed down with a bowlful of Doggy Beer.

A Roaring Fire Welcomes You

Sometimes, when we feel like going a bit further afield we will drive up to the Hare and Hounds, although it would make a pleasant walk, especially on a nice crisp and sunny winter’s day where you could sit in front of the roaring fire that almost certainly will be lit. This makes for a lovely country atmosphere that somehow is enhanced on a cold day in a warm cosy pub.

Walk off the Christmas Lunch

So this year when you’ve eaten too much Christmas cake and mince pies, why not grab the dog lead and make your way to the Hare and Hounds. That part of Christmas between the big day and New Year’s Eve often calls for something a little bit different and this could be just the thing.
